Move the playhead to the start point where you would like to change the speed of your clip.
Press CTRL+C on your keyboard to activate the cut tool
Click and cut the clip where you would like to start the speed ramp.
Then move the playhead to where you would like to end the speed up of the clip.
Click and cut the clip where you would like your speed ramp to end.
Then press CTRL-R on your keyboard to enable the Rate Stretch Tool
Drag the end of the cutted clip to the left until you are satisfied with the speed of the clip.
The clip will become much smaller than it was before, which means that the duration or speed of the clip has changed.
Select the empty space left after you changed the duration of the clip and press DELETE key on your keyboard.
The remaining part of the clip will snap right back to your speed ramped clip.
Don’t use Speed Ramp or Fast Forward effect too often. It can distract the viewer from the things that are happening in the video itself. It is good to be able to blend this effect with some other effects or transitions in your video project. You can usually feel where it could fit very good and where it feels kind of weird or too much…
